Freesat is exactly the same as Freeview – the only difference is that it receives programmes via satellite instead of a digital aerial, so it’s the right solution if you’re in an area where you can’t pick up Freeview on an aerial. Like its terrestrial equivalent, there’s no contract or monthly payments and you get more than 140 digital TV and radio channels, including BBC 3, BBC 4, ITV2, ITV3, More 4 and Film 4 as well as up to 70 hours of BBC and ITV programmes.
For Freesat, the On Air team provides all the same installation, upgrade and repair services as with Sky with the same diligence and professionalism.

We know it can seem complicated – and we do our best to explain all your options in jargon-free language to help you decide which suits you best. Depending on which form of Digital TV you choose, you’ll need to install a special digital aerial/satellite dish and a set-top box.

Apart from the initial cost of your set-top box and digital aerial, Freeview is free of charge (no monthly subscription at all!). It works just like the TV you’re used to, with all your existing channels and more besides – except that because it’s digital, you get lots more channels and interactive services. You also have the option of adding on more paid-for channel packages if you wish.
Freesat is exactly the same as Freeview – except that it’s delivered by satellite. So it’s ideal for you if you’re in an area where you can’t pick up terrestrial digital TV. Just like Freeview, there’s nothing to pay once you’ve bought your dish and set-top box.

With SKY TV, on the other hand, you pay a monthly subscription on top of your satellite dish and set-top box installation. In return you receive a huge choice of channels – and you can pick the package and price that suits you. Read more about SKY TV

With a European TV dish you can receive literally hundreds of channels in all the languages of the world.

The difference between digital TV and the traditional kind (analogue TV) is the same as between a CD and an old-fashioned vinyl record. With vinyl records, the sound waves are copied into the vinyl – and then reproduced by the vibrations in the stylus… On a CD, the sound is converted into computerised information – and the CD player reads that information to re-create the sound.

The same process applies to Digital TV. The quality’s better AND the signal uses far less of the available space in the airwaves (bandwidth). So it makes room for many more channels than the five you get with analogue TV.
